In Creative Producing Class, Larry Klein will give an insightful talk where he focuses on the creative process of record production from a philosophical and psychological standpoint. He elaborates on a variety of topics including the many roles of a producer, artist psychology, instilling confidence and relaxation, maintaining high morale, types of artist-producer relationships, categorization by genre, stability of perspective, working hours, suggesting ideas, accepting mistakes, choosing the right take, production goals, hiring musicians, workflow, headphone mixes, monitoring with effects, recreating the spirit of a demo, directing an artist, and knowing when to finish a project.
In this special hands-on class taught at the Asia’s largest and most versatile recording studio, Studio28 Production, Larry will also be live-producing a musical group performing their original composition, and masterclass students will get the chance to witness this Grammy-winning producer work closely as he develops the materials with the band, from recording, to finishing a rough mix down.

Producer Larry Klein has been a Grammy Awards mainstay over the past 2 decades. He has won 4 Grammys, including 1996’s best pop album for Joni Mitchell’s Turbulent Indigo, 2001’s best traditional pop vocal album for Mitchell’s Both Sides Now, and 2 awards in 2008 for Herbie Hancock’s Mitchell project River: The Joni Letters. He’s also been nominated 3 times for best producer honors, including this year for his impressive 2017-2018 albums by a range of eclectic artists, including Madeleine Peyroux, Luciana Souza, Hailey Tuck, Molly Johnson, and Thomas Dybdahl (Also nominated for best producer are Boi-1da, Linda Perry, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.) Klein also produced actor Jeff Goldblum’s recent debut jazz album The Capitol Studio Sessions.
