‘Virtual Influencers’ are digital characters which are generated by computer graphics. They can do almost everything like real humans. Virtual influencers are able to promote brands and products with the creative content and picture on their platforms. The exclusivity of virtual influencers is that they are dashing like the real human being. Apart from promoting products, they can post pictures of their activities as if they were real influencers. For example, they post pictures when they are working out, and they are meeting their friends on the street.
Imma is a Japanese girl with a pink bob, flawless skin, and cute character. She is fashionable, popular, and really attractive. She has over 332k followers, and she gets plenty of top brands deals such as Porsche Japan, IKEA, Dior, Puma, Nike, Valentino, Amazon, Calvin Klein, and Valentino. Furthermore, Imma’s pictures are so natural and lively that many people think she is a real human. For example, sewing with the villagers, playing with her dog, dancing, and going outside to meet her friends. Unbelievably, she is just only a virtual influencer!
In the fast-changing technological age, virtual influencers are one of the best choices for many brands because they can control influencers’ characters and behaviors. Additionally, they are able to generate images of virtual influencers as they want such as hair, face, shape, including race. These are the advantages of virtual influencers that can satisfy many companies. However, there are some disadvantages as well. Some followers may feel that these influencers are not real, and unreliable, so it can also negatively impact the decision of consumers. As mentioned before, virtual influencers have both advantages and disadvantages for brands, and it all depends on consumers’ judgment and their circumstances.
Virtual influencers have no life, yet they are powerful. They also have a massive impact on marketing. Therefore, many brands begin to create their own virtual influencers as well. We will definitely see more virtual influencers on online platforms in the future and these influencers will look more life-like until we can separate out whether they are real or virtual!
